We have two main house email lists that we use to communicate with each other in the house.
hip_announce is for important official house business. It is mandatory in that if you are ignorant of something posted here, it's no one's fault but your own. Important manager announcements and anything you need to know about will be sent to this list. All members are responsible for reading and understanding information disseminated via this list. Only managers can post to hip_announce, and they try to use it sparingly and not tax your mandatory attention.
hip_house is an optional list for all other discussions, and anyone subscribed to it can post. It is used for a lot of house-level discussion—everything from lost keys to organizing social activities to general discussion, and is the best way to keep current with the house.
To subscribe or unsubscribe to a mailing list, send a blank email to:

If you're subscribing to a mailing list, after you send your subscription request email you'll receive the following reply:
Do not click “join this group.” The link will not work. Instead, reply to that email however you wish; this will confirm your subscription to the mailing list.
If you have any other issues, please feel free to contact the Network Manager to be (un)added to these lists directly. In the email, please indicate that you've gone through this guide already, or else I'll just send you the link to this page :^)
