Guest rooms
💡 Quick links: reserve a guest room or view current reservations.
Basic information
We have 2 guest rooms (one next to the music room, and one in the basement next to the study room). It is possible that at *any time* one of the rooms may be occupied by a BSC member in need from another house. These kinds of occupations take precedence over any and all guest room reservations.
There are two slots per day, for the ground floor and basement rooms. Click on each slot you want to reserve. If a slot is missing, that means it's already reserved. You can see who has made each reservation from this website.
When you create a reservation, an event on your personal google calendar is created.
When your reservation starts
- Obtain the guest room keys from the House Manager
- Coordinate with the people from previous/later reservations if you have specific requirements for when your guests should arrive/leave.
- If linens are missing, you can usually get them from the free pile (supposedly, they should be clean before they were placed there)
- If linens were left dirty, please be cooperative and wash them both before and after your guest room reservation
When your reservation ENDS
- Clean your guests’ room after they leave, including washing all linens, etc.
- Return the guest room keys to the House Manager or to their P.O. Box (notify them if doing so)
Canceling a reservation
To cancel a reservation, delete the event that was created on your own calendar. If you delete your reservation from your calendar, you are effectively giving up your reservation. Please cancel your reservations if you are not planning to have guests anymore.
Note about reservations’ privacy
As of right now, guest room reservations are essentially public to anyone on the internet (if they get hold of the links above, which are linked from our house’s website). Don’t put any info that you wouldn’t be comfortable sharing to anyone. The reasoning behind this is that not having the guest room reservations visible makes scheduling and figuring out logistics between those who reserve rooms much harder. There probably is some more involved way around this, but for now I’m assuming this is not a big enough deal to care.
Who has the guest room reserved?
Sometimes, there might be confusion as to who has the guest room reserved. One can simply go to the reservation viewing page and see who has an active reservation. If multiple reservations exist for the same room (on the same day), that means that all but one have been canceled. See the example below for a guest room reservation that has been canceled, vs one that is still active (see the ❌ vs ✅ next to the email).
